May 6, 2011- Historic Walking Trail Grand Opening. Join us for a guided tour of 32 homes and business in downtown historic Hartwell. Learn about the architecture and stories of the past as members of the community lead the tour. Everyone will be given an informational brochure as well. This event begins at 3:30pm at the Hart County Chamber of Commerce.

 

May 7, 2011 - 33rd Annual Lake Hartwell Dam Run. One of Georgia 's most scenic 5K and 10K runs. Featuring a one mile "Fun Run". It all begins at Big Oaks Recreation Area on US 29 just North of Hartwell at 8:30 AM. The street address for the Big Oaks Recreation Area is 5625 Anderson Hwy. Come and enjoy the "Best Dam Run Anywhere". Sponsored by the Hart County Running Club. May 27-29, 2011 - 20th Annual Challenge of the Centuries Bike Ride is sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Hartwell. This annual ride has become a regional favorite where riders can choose how many days to ride and choose from three distances on each day! Beginning and ending in Hartwell , Georgia adjacent to beautiful Lake Hartwell, you'll enjoy riding loops that traverse rolling back country roads with picturesque scenery and minimum traffic. Come for one day or both! You may camp in the YMCA Gym, pitch a tent outside, or stay in on of Hartwell's hotels. The ride benefits Boy Scouts of America Troop 33 and Hart Partners. The Challenge of the Centuries is an official 2011 Bike Ride Across Georgia training ride! May 28, 2011 - Cars & Guitars, Under the Stars. This family-friendly event is a great way to kick-start the summer season! Come admire elegant classic cars this Memorial Day Saturday. There will also be music and children's activities! Cars & Guitars, Under the Stars will be downtown Hartwell from 2pm-6pm. This event helps to raise money for the Pre-4th Extravaganza fireworks!

bullet The Classic Car Show Registration is $15 if paid by May 2nd, 2011. After May 2nd, the registration increases to $20. Classic Car participants will be eligible for trophies. All vehicles need to be at least 25 years of age.
bullet 50's, 60's and 70's DJ music will be provided by "Cruzin to the Oldies" and played between 2pm-6pm.
bullet Vendor Spaces are $50. Contact the Hart County Chamber for a vendor registration form. Food vendors must complete a temporary food service application from the Hart County Health Dept. at (706) 376-2582.
bullet The Children's Activity Area is a fundraiser for the Hart County Imagination Library, providing free books to Hart County children from birth to age 5!

June 3-5, 2011 Wake Hartwell. Wakeboarding Associations of Georgia & South Carolina are coming together on Lake Hartwell . This will be a two time event held once on the Georgia side, and once on the South Carolina side. The June event will be held at Singing Pines in Anderson , SC. (July 15-17 in GA) There will be a children's wakeboarding clinic on Friday, and the competition beginning on Saturday . This event is sponsored by the Lake Hartwell Marking Alliance. June 5, 2011 - American Bass Anglers Fishing Tournament at the Gum Branch Recreation and Tournament Facility on Old Hwy 29 in Hartwell. This is a part of the ABA Division 25 Schedule. bullet 12th Annual DANCIN' on DEPOT Street Dance!!! 5:30-11pm Join us for this annual tradition that kicks off the Pre-4th weekend of events! Tickets at the gate will be $5 each. Music begins at 5:30pm Gates open at 5pm on Carolina St. Remember to bring your children, lawn chairs and dancing shoes! bullet Pre-4th Arts & Crafts Extravaganza – (9:00am - 3:00pm) This is an amazing festival filled with many fun community events on the Square in Hartwell. Free admission to the festival.
bullet Pre-4th Extravaganza Children's Parade – (10:30am) Judging will take place at 10a.m. and starts at the back parking lot of the First United Methodist Church and goes down Howell St. The parade will end at the corner of Forest Ave. and E. Howell St. No motorized vehicles will be allowed in the parade. For more information, call Kathy Breffle at (706)436-2698 cell.
bullet Pre-4th Community Band Concert – (8:00pm) Join us for an evening of patriotic music provided by the Greater Anderson New Horizons Band with help from several local musicians , at the Big Oaks Recreation Area. The conductors are David Frye and Ron Jonson. Free admission.
bullet Pre-4th Fireworks – (At dusk) Enjoy a tremendous fireworks display at the Big Oaks Recreation Area by the Dam. Free admission to the fireworks.

June 25, 2011 - 1st Annual Dam Y-Tri (triathlon).
